CHEF LUIGI FEATURED AT SUNDAY NIGHT SUPPERS
Al Tiramisu’s Chef will highlight Italian delicacies

WASHINGTON, DC - On January 24, 2010, Honorary Chairs Jose Andres, Joan Nathan and Alice Waters will host Sunday Night Suppers: A Focus on Food – fifteen intimate dinners and Sunday Night Sips, a separate cocktail party, in Washington, D.C. homes to benefit D.C. Central Kitchen and Martha’s Table. Chef Luigi Diotaiuti, from Al Tiramisu (www.altiramisu.com) restaurant in Dupont Circle, is featured at a private dinner to showcase his Italian culinary skills.

While savoring the rich winter bounty of the East Coast, chefs, community leaders and concerned citizens will share their ideas on how to nourish the health, economy and environment of our nation’s capital through food. The Sunday Suppers, hosted in private homes in the DC metro area, will pair chefs and hosts to create an evening of discussion while dining on creative cuisine with ingredients donated by local growers and food producers.

“I am honored to highlight the Italian cuisine I know and love,” said Chef Luigi. “Both these organizations are dear to my heart and to work through food to bring awareness is a great honor.”

The Sunday Night Sips cocktail party will be a gathering with Alice Waters to celebrate the contribution youth are making to create an equitable food system. At this cocktail party, Laurie Silverbush will premier a clip from her new movie “Hungry in America”.

Tickets are available at sundaynightsuppers.eventbrite.com. Donations are tax-deductible. Martha’s Table’s mission is to help at-risk children, youth, families and individuals in our community improve their lives by providing educational programs, food, clothing, and enrichment opportunities. D.C. Central Kitchen's mission is to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds and build communities.

Chef Luigi’s career has been more than a success, it has been a mission. To take the very best ingredients and create the most amazing Italian dishes at his boutique restaurant, Al Tiramisu, in the heart of Washington, DC.

Always working to improve his craft Chef Luigi became the first certified professional Sommelier from the Italian Sommelier Association, AIS, in the Nation’s Capital. Chef Luigi has climbed new heights to fuse the best Italian dishes with the finest wines of various regions.

Traveling to Italy several times a year keeps Chef Luigi “fresh” with new ideas and culinary delights. Chef can be spotted in the Lizza market, in Siena, selecting Tuscan kale to cook in the kitchen of Osteria Le Logge with his friend Mirko; Receiving fresh picked porcinis at Ristorante Il Silene and prepare some risotto with Chef Roberto or taking a professional pastry class at the Istituto Etoile in Tuscania.

Chef Luigi can count celebrity actors and world leaders among his many guests, whose photographs eating at Al Tiramisu adorn the entrance to his restaurant. Famous actors such as George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas and politicians such as White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley, Talk Show Host Chris Matthews and Secretary of Defense Leon Paneta to name a few are regulars. Committed to inspiring the younger generation Chef Luigi donates his time and skills through cooking classes, teaching healthy and sustainable eating habits and promoting Italian ingredients in America.
